Cod icefish is a predatory fish.
Maximum length 40 cm.

Cod icefish lives in the very cold waters, at depths of 50-500 meters. It has a blood protein that prevents it from freezing so it can live in icy waters.
It has white flesh.
It feeds on small crustaceans, algae, other fish.

It is found in South America, Patagonia, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, near Antarctica.
In Romania it is mistaken for a hake, but in fact it’s the Antarctic perch.
